Guidelines for the Underground Anthologies:
a. Short Stories
1) Setting: May take place either in the Web, or in the 2036 world run by the One State (exception to the time setting is if a related event occurs before or after “Flashpoint”)
2) All technologies and organizations must be true to Flashpoint’s foundation.
3) Must reflect a Christian worldview (either overt or subtle)
4) Characters: Stories may include characters from Flashpoint, as long as those characters behave true-to-character.
5) Word Count: Short Story (1-5k words).
-Make sure your entry is well edited and proofread before sending it.
6) Due date for submissions: July 15, 2008.
-Include a title page with story title, word count, author, contact information.
-Single spaced, legible font, .doc or rtf format. Do NOT place your name on story pages.
-Email to admin@frankcreed.com; put "Flashpoint Anthology" in the subject line.
7) Selections will be announced in September’s newsletter.
8) All chosen entries will be included in the ‘07-’08 Flashpoint Anthology.
9) Some entries may be returned as "very promising" and a request for revisions. It is up to the author to decide whether s/he is willing to do so in order to be included in the book.
10) Successful entrants will be paid $0.005/ word (final word count)--the same rate as Mindflights webzine, three free copies of the book and the chance to purchase additional books at a 40% discount--for either personal use or resale.
11) First English Anthology Rights held for up to 6 months after official publication.
b. Illustration
1) All art work must reflect and be true to Flashpoint's setting, true to Flashpoint's foundations regarding organizations, characters, technology and be true to the general storyline although some leeway is allowed here to create a parallel story line or offshoot of an existing one.
2) All art work must be respectful of the Christian worldview, ie./ no nudity or lethal violence depicted.
3) All forms of artwork will likely be acceptable as long as they can be converted to a high resolution .jpg in gray scale. If you are unsure, use the email address below to query.
4) Illustrations will be submitted as a JPEG approximately no larger than 500 pixels wide or tall.
5) Artist retains the copyright and this will be listed on the book's copyright page.
6) Publisher will receive sole and exclusive right to produce and publish the Artwork or any part of it in any form in the book and in connection with the promotion. The exclusive rights shall last until six months after the official publication.
7) Payment: $10 - $25 per illustration or cartoon chosen, 3 free copies of the book and the chance to purchase additional books at a 40% discount--for either personal use or resale.
