You all know how I feel about Amazon with their bully tactics to force self-publishers to use BookSurge. However, most of us are still forced to do business with them, in which case, you've probably heard of Kindle, the electronic reader which can wirelessly download books from just about everywhere. I converted both of my books to Kindle and because of the hefty price of the device, I charge less for the Kindle format than even my PDF eBooks. And because I have books for sale in this format, Amazon notified me of a special they have going on right now on the Kindle device.
I have NOT tried Kindle, so this is in no way an endorsement. But *IF* you were interested, the following promotion might just be what could make it in your price range.
The DEAL:
If you apply right now for the Amazon Visa, you get $100 off of a Kindle. Current price is $359, so that would make it $259.
I have an Amazon Visa already and in the past I used it a lot and earned a lot of rewards that way. I have only great things to say about the Visa card. I only changed my credit card behavior in response to Amazon's BookSurge strong-arming. $259 is still too much for me personally, but someone else might feel that puts it in the realm of reasonable. I certainly wouldn't blame anyone for going for a great deal. It would mean a LOT of savings in books (assuming you could get books you want to read in the Kindle format). Depending on how much you read, it could conceivably pay for itself in a year.
